Throughout my various marketing roles from my first Marketing Executive role for a small-ish manufacturing company right though to my most recent Head of Marketing for a Global software PLC, deep inside me I’ve always known that one day I want to start my own marketing business and help multiple organisations understand what successful marketing and lead generation looks like. It’s not a skill that people just know. Unless you’re fully qualified and you’ve been around the block a few times, it’s not easy to understand the concept of how to be an effective marketeer, and you constantly have to keep up with the changing times to succeed in this modern world that we live in.
I know that I can help those who don’t understand marketing (nor do they want to understand) but need to do something different in order to make their business successful.
Anyway, the point I’m trying to make is that when I left my most recent role to start up my own business, it was some kind-worded text exchange with Veronica on the 6th May around 11pm that got me thinking ‘Yes I can absolutely do this and I know it’ll make me happy helping others’.
This card was still on my bedside table. And it all just clicked into place. It was a huge lightbulb moment and Flamingo Marketing Strategies Ltd was born.
You see, in this day and age there are businesses popping up left, right and centre. Competition is fierce and if you don’t stand out…you won’t succeed. Many small businesses start as one person who has never done marketing in their life…so how can they possibly know what to do to make themselves stand out from their competitors? Unless they take up a marketing qualification or invest in self-teaching in their spare time (because y’know, business owners have tonnes of that!) they naturally fall into a pattern where they follow what other people do in their field. They use the same style of website, the same tone and the same messages and then they wonder why they are struggling to acquire new customers year on year.
